Not spyware (which spies on your activity), but adware (which tries to sell you stuff or sends you to websites you don't want to go to). I suggest you download Ad-Aware SE and Spybot S%26amp;D (they鈥檙e free), install them, update them and run them. If they don't seem to be able to get rid of everything they report finding, try running them again, this time in Safe Mode.

Also, turn off System Restore to evict any copies of bad stuff that might be lurking there.

To get into Safe Mode:

1.Log out and reboot your machine.

2.When the machine starts the reboot sequence, press the F8 key

3.Select Safe Mode from the resulting menu.

4.The machine will continue booting, but the Windows desktop will look different. You won't be able to see the Internet, for instance. You may have to log in as Administrator to delete the bad files.

5.When you're finished, log out and reboot back into normal mode.

Update and run both regularly, along with a good anti-virus package.

Good luck.

Unless you're spelling it wrong then it's most likely spyware. If you use internet explorer then I'd bet you've got a page hijacker. It usually installs a toolbar and starts sending you to it's own website.

Unfortunately, you can't sue the dumb people who make these things, but you can download a program like Spybot or Ad-Aware and delete the bug.
Internal miss con-fig?

if you are running 2000 or XP try this:

%windir%\system32\drivers\etc.

Open the "hosts" file. their should be opened with notepad only. See the sample below. there should be only one entry in ther for "127.0.0.1 localhost". Everything else should have a # sign to comment it all out. If you ahve more entries in here delete them.

%26lt;--Background. --%26gt;

When your computer ties to find things on another computer, it checks this file FIRST. then it goes to you DNS servers to find the name of what ever you are looking for....

1. Hosts file

2. DNS -- if your at home, don't work your internet provider gives you the correct settings...

IF there is nothing there....

Open up your internet browser and delete all the cookies and history.

IE: select tools, options

firefox: select edit, preferences
